Today (Thursday) the House will consider a number of amendments designed to access the so-called Rainy Day Fund to provide much-needed revenue for the remainder of the current biennium (through August 2011).
We ask for you to contact your representative and urge him or her to support the amendments by Rep. Armando Walle (D-Houston) to restore funding to all community colleges for the current year. The amendments will be offered to HB 275 and HB 4, which relate to revenue for all agencies of state government from the Rainy Day Fund as well as other sources.
We do not want to inject any confusion between this effort and our previous e-mail to members from last Monday, available here from our blog:
The previous message still applies, and relates to funding for the next biennium only. Today's message must be acted upon today in order for it to have any result.
Your message should be brief and concise. Please ask your representative today to support amendments by Rep. Walle to restore funding for community colleges for the current year.
