At the General Session Thursday evening, three community colleges got a chance to display impressive examples of how two-year schools can succeed with programs designed to help "at risk" students. El Paso Community College, Brazosport College, and the Houston Community College System treated the audience of college faculty with vivid reminders of how schools are keeping students in the educational "pipeline" without jeopardizing standards of excellence.
The schools were supported in their efforts by a number of foundations, including the Greater Texas Foundation, the Meadows Foundation, the Gates Foundation, and Houston Endowment.
Follow-up sessions on Friday afternoon, during the Success Seminars, will allow for questions and interaction from TCCTA participants. Here's the entire list of Success Seminars.
More news from the annual convention in San Antonio will be posted on the TCCTA blog soon.
