I'd also like to see some data on male instructors.

When I taught at the community college level, I typically wore slacks, a nice knit shirt, and loafer dress shoes. I was comfortable in these clothes, and, as far as I can tell, had the respect and attention of my students.

My older brother Eric just retired as a full professor from California State University, East Bay. He always wore high-quality suits, but I know they could not have been as comfortable as my attire.
