Although the Regular Session of the Texas Legislature doesn't convene until Jan. 13, TCCTA has started "tracking" introduced bills that potentially affect community and technical college educators. On the list so far are measures that would alter the required curriculum, provide tax exemptions for textbook purchases, and freeze tuition. Other bills relate to college readiness and the Texas Teacher Retirement System.
The list is updated daily by the TCCTA state office. When the session begins, it is an excellent way to follow the progress of bills as they move through the legislative process.
